Building a Luxury Doghouse

(Whether they deserve it or not!)

We poured the 7’ x 8’ slab on Labor Day (Sep 1) 2008.  55 bags of concrete!

Finished slab after a couple of weeks

Framing started

Walls built and porch posts in-place

Framing the roof

Roof sheathing finished

One of the beds my wife built.  Patch is a 70-lb Dalmatian.  Coco, half

his size, is a brindle Staffordshire mix.  Patch’s bed (not finished at the

time) is in the background.

Siding, door, and heater/AC unit installed

Metal roof added.  Still need to add the attic sheathing, but the house

is warm during the cold nights.

A standard home thermostat now controls the ac/heat unit.  I moved

the temperature sensor from the board of the thermostat to the inside

of the house,  then replaced the temperature controls of the unit with

three 24 VAC relays that are controlled by the thermostat.

All the trim and siding is finished and windows installed.  Just need to finish

painting and railings.

Finally, all done!

Enjoyment …
